All folio pieces should have the questions at the top in italics.  The house style is Times New Roman 12 point.  All poetry quotations of more than one line should be in verse form, indented and tabulated.  All quotations should be in italics.  Check that you deal with the key terms of the question in the introduction and return to these in the conclusion.  Ensure you analyse techniques and do not just tell the story.  Always make some personal comments to show your reactions to the texts and to show that you engage with the texts. Make sure your name is on every folio piece. (Header and footers are optional).

For revisiting  former pieces of work look at the guidance sheets to be found here or on the wiki site:

For the Critical Essay paper you need to revise from The Great Gatsby workbook containing the textual analyses and concentrate on characterisation and setting. Learn your quotations so that you can choose appropriate phrases from them.

For Poetry, prepare by using the notes you have made from answering the questions on The Box Room. You will need to consider the use of poetic techniques especially the persona of the girlfriend, her relationship with the prospective mother-in-law and how this changes her view of her boyfriend. You will need to be able to analyse the effects of the techniques used and quote extensively.

For Macbeth you will need to know Act 1 thoroughly and be able to quote and analyse why Macbeth often changes his mind.  What are the effects of his wife, the witches, his own ambition and his conscience? How do circumstances affect his actions?

You should also look over past Close Reading papers to see the types of question being set and understand what the examiner is looking for.  You will have some revision sheets to help you.

Evidence from newspapers e.g. Sunday Herald , Observer etc, google, wikipedia and other sources should be examined critically and not always taken as gospel…

Nevertheless, much useful evidence can be gleaned from these sources and Issues, Essential Articles etc

Remember the importance of the five point structure ABCDE of Introduction, Exposition, Refutation, Evaluation and Conclusion.

Remember paragraphing requires a Topic sentence and development with evidenceto back up arguments.

Remember the Hook in the Introduction and return to it in the Conclusion.

Remember the use of stylistic features e.g. Rhetorical Questionslinking wordslike however, nevertheless, on the other hand, not only but also, moreover; extended metaphors; emotive language.

Overall the purpose of the writing is to persuade and argue a case convincingly. Remember to convince your readership!
